As a young child, I didn't have a passion for reading until I read this! It was exciting, fantastical, and imaginative.

This was one of the first books I remember feeling completely lost in. I was transported into Danny's world and Roald Dahl became one of my favorite authors.

The BFG by Roald Dahl
The BFG was one of my favorites as a kid. It was another where I felt completely transported. I recently read this to my boys and they loved it too. We also went and saw the new movie that came out this year, it was fun to see the characters and story come to life.

What Do you do with an Idea? by Kobi Yamada
One of me and the students all time favortie read alouds. This book really gets readers thinking about what they can do with their thoughts and ideas.

Dragons Love Tacos by Adam Rubin
This is possibly my favorite read aloud of all time! It is so funny. Kids love hearing this one over and over.

A Boy and a Jaguar by Alan Rabinowitz
This non-fiction read aloud is about a boy who stutters, but not when he speaks to animals. He becomes an advocate for jaguars, speaking for others with no voice, like he himself when his stuttering makes communicating impossible. Beautiful and moving.

If by Sarah Perry
You have to see this one to believe it. The kids' favorite pages included: What if toes were teeth? What if mice were hair? What if caterpillars were toothpaste?

The Day the Crayons Quit by Drew Daywalt
A new classic. Letters from crayons to a boy who owns them is such a creative way to tell the story. Everyone loves when the peach crayon won't come out of the box because he's naked, since the boy ripped off his paper label.

Press Here by Herve Tullet
Kids love playing around with this interactive book. From Kindergarten through 5th grade the kids like pressing the dots, shaking the pages, and clapping to make the dots "move" on the pages. This is a great book for English Language Learners, simple, yet the words mean a lot.
